How XLS-Medical Fat Binder Works

XLS : Use-Cautions & Contraindications

Fat binders may interfere with absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) or essential fatty acids, because they reduce fat uptake in the gut.

Some fat binders must be spaced away from other medications or oral treatments: for example, one product’s instructions specify: “Oral medication must be taken 1 hour before or 4 hours after using the fat binder” to avoid interfering with absorption of other drugs.

Contraindications include (depending on product): gastrointestinal disorders (e.g., ulcers, Crohn’s disease, intestinal obstruction), pregnancy/breast-feeding, and being underweight (BMI < 18.5).

They are not a substitute for lifestyle change: a high-fat meal while using a fat binder may lead to gastrointestinal side-effects (e.g., oily/loose stool, urgency) and won’t negate the need for diet/exercise.
